Expansive. That’s one word for this view – and the house that builder Brett Harley built in Knockrow in full view of the gorgeous northern New South Wales coast.
The family home was designed to maximise its view and aspect.
They didn’t want to feel shut-in from their million dollar view: they wanted to have the ability to bring the outside in; to use their easterly outlook with the sun rising over the ocean near Lennox Head as living artwork. They wanted to enjoy the sea breezes too.
Fulfilling that brief, exterior walls were replaced by glass—lots of glass.
But there are potential downsides to this option and Harley needed to cover them off: this house on a hilltop needed to be a home for all seasons. It needed to be energy-efficient, it needed to withstand high winds in storms—and not be too dazzling on the eyes before the morning’s first coffee!
Some clever problem-solving came into play.
Versalite provided all the glass for this residential build, Harley choosing the Australian owned and operated award-winning supplier of windows and doors for their experience and custom design.
P35 Grey Low-E SmartGlass was used for temperature control, glare and privacy.
Versalite’s product testing provided the assurance glass to withstand the worst of winds.
And how do the clients feel? Harley says they’re “over the moon” – and who wouldn’t be!
